Ranjan Sahay is one of India’s foremost experts on environmental management in the mining sector. He was Controller General of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines. He was also a member of the Environmental Appraisal Committee for Mining project (Non-Coal) at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). He played an important role in the formulation of policy for conservation of minerals, framing of MMDR Bill 2011, amendment of MMDR Act 2015 and in the framing of the Sustainable Development Framework (SDF). He holds a B. Tech (Hon.) in Mining Engineering, from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
